Corruption, support to terror in genes of Cong and AAP: Yogi

Sunday, 27 November 2022 | PNS | Gir Somnath/Bhavnagar/Amreli

In a blistering attack on Aam Aadmi Party and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Saturday that the “sample” from Delhi was an avowed supporter of terrorism, who suspected the valour of the forces during India’s surgical strike in Balakot and asked for proofs despite the fact that Pakistan admitted the loss caused due the attack.

Holding three rallies in the districts of Gir Somnath, Bhavnagar and Amreli in poll-bound Gujarat, Yogi said that AAP was against the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya and that its government in Delhi abandoned people during the COVID-19 pandemic and they had to rush to Uttar Pradesh for treatment.

“Those who cannot handle Delhi, what can they do in Gujarat?” he quipped.

The UP chief minister said that both Congress and AAP did not respect people’s faith, nor could they provide security, development and prosperity to the nation and its people, and urged people to reject them.

He added: “Corruption and supporting terrorism is in their genes.”

Taking a dig at former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Yogi said that he was against the reconstruction of Somnath temple for fear of losing Muslim vote bank and it was only because of a leader like Vallabhbhai Patel that the temple could be rebuilt.

He also paid tributes to Hamirji Gohil for sacrificing his life for the reconstruction of the temple.

Yogi said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the country was making rapid strides in development and prosperity while ensuring inclusive progress and security of the citizens.

He pointed out that India’s global prestige had shot up under Modi’s leadership, adding that the country had defeated the United Kingdom which ruled India for nearly 200 years to become the fifth largest economy and was also leading G20, the group of 20 most powerful nations that controlled 80 per cent of the world’s resources.

Speaking at Amreli, Yogi said that the disappearance of the brother-sister duo of Congress from the campaign scene revealed their acceptance of defeat.

Yogi said that Prime Minister Modi decided to celebrate November 26, the day of preparation of the final draft of the Constitution as Constitution Day to make every citizen realise that a citizen did not only have rights but also had a duty towards the country.

Paying tributes to Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, Yogi said that Congress did not pay due respect to him and to Vallabhbhai Patel. He remarked that the BJP government headed by Modi had got a huge statue of Vallabhbhai Patel built and had also developed five places associated with Babasaheb as ‘Panch teerth”.

Praising the prime minister further, Yogi said that when Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat he ensured that riots and curfews stopped and when he became the prime minister he did not allow terror attacks on Indian soil.

Earlier, Yogi offered prayers at the Somnath temple.
