The decline in COVID-19 cases continued for almost a week as Uttar Pradesh reported 7,907 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours while in the same period 14,993 people recovered from infection.
There were 65,263 active cases in the state on Friday evening.
More than 98 per cent of these people are recovering at home with minor symptoms, said Additional Chief Secretary (Information) Navneet Sehgal here on Friday.
He said with more than 25.51 crore Covid vaccinations, over 98.89 per cent of the adult population had got the first dose of the vaccine, while 67.52 per cent of the people had received both doses.
"Before the first phase of assembly elections, our target is to give the first dose of vaccine to 100 per cent of the people and second dose to 75 per cent of the eligible citizens. In every case, it will be ensured that not a single citizen is deprived of the vaccine," he said.
Out of 1,40,40,000 adolescents in the age group of 15-17, more than 87,33,000 i.e. 63 per cent, have got the vaccine cover. Similarly, according to the target till January 31, 80 per cent of the eligible people will also get a booster dose.
