To formally expose the world of entrepreneurship among the learners and to help students understand the need of skill building, Delhi Public School, Bokaro Steel City organised a special ceremony to inaugurate the Skill Hub in its campus today.

The Skill Hub was inaugurated by Kuldeep Chaudhary, Deputy Commissioner(DC) Bokaro, who was the Chief Guest of the occasion. Neelam Ileen Toppo, District Education Officer, Bokaro added grace to the occasion as the Guest of Honour. The event also witnessed the dignified presence of dozens of Principals of Dr. Radhakrishnan Sahodaya School Complex, Bokaro. The Skill Hub aims to provide learning opportunities to adult learners and school dropouts to open up new avenues of financial independence.

The ‘Skill Hub Initiative’ under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 3.0 (PMKVY 3.0) aims to facilitate and make education more relevant and create an industry fit skilled workforce. It envisions the integration of vocational education with general education as stated in the ‘National Education Policy 2020’.

Keeping up with the 'Go Green’ initiatives of the school, the guests were welcomed with a sapling. A short cultural programme commenced with invoking the blessings of Lord Ganesha which was followed by the lighting of the sacred lamp. Students mesmerized the audience with a spectacular dance performance that highlighted the need of skill building among learners.

A special Power Point Presentation was shown to explain the workings of the Skill Hub and the evaluation criteria. The sewing kits were handed over to the 35 learners who have registered for the programme. They will receive the training free of cost as all expenses will be borne by the DPS Bokaro School Management.

On this occasion, Chaudhary expressed his happiness at the launch of Skill Hub at DPS Bokaro and conveyed his best wishes for the success of the initiative. He said that this will provide a platform wherein the learners would get an opportunity to learn the skills and create their own identity. The 50 hours of training for three months provided by the school free of cost will help in creating a skilled workforce. He added that such programs are going on in government schools also. Together with other private educational institutions a further strategy can be made, a common database of such programs will be prepared for future requirements.

He informed that the District Administration is planning to connect skilled children with employment by running such programs in other places with the help of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and other resources. District Education Officer (Guest of Honour) Smt. Toppo said that DPS has become a skill hub apart from being an educational hub. She said that learning skills is an important act of skill development in the direction of self-reliance and self-employment.

Speaking on the occasion, A.S. Gangwar Principal DPS Bokaro said, “When children learn new skills, they also experience independence which builds confidence and self-esteem. So, helping children learn new skills plays an important part in shaping up their overall development.”
