The exhibition cum sale of Gond paintings at 'Likhandra Exhibition Gallery' of Madhya Pradesh Tribal Museum is organized every month under the series Shalaka. In this sequence, an exhibition of paintings by Kasu Baria, a painter of the Bhil community, has been organized from July 3, concluded on Saturday.
Born in the year 1982 in Pitol village of Jhabua, a Bhil dominated area, Kasu Baria saw the beauty created by tradition around her and got inspired to draw pictures after seeing the markings done on the land and wall by the women of the family and the village. There was no painting experience, only lines carved out of clay and sometimes decorated with some natural colours.
Baria created 28 paintings showcasing Deer and Birds, Karanji Trees and Birds, Peacocks and Trees, Wadla Trees and Birds, Neem Trees, Peacocks and Other Birds, Guindi Trees and Birds, Mahua Trees and Birds, Turtles and Fish, Nilgai and birds.
She also showcased Gond tradition Bhagoria fair, young girls collecting plums, bullock carts and water filled pots, elephant riders, women collecting mahua, palm tree and youth, Gatla Dev, peacock guarding eggs, owls, squirrels and companions, birds and peepal Natural and beautiful scenes and stories of rural life like tree, elephant rider, tree and bird, camel rider, herd of fish, goat and bird, lion and bird, young man collecting toddy, bird guarding eggs, elephant rider and water harvesting has expressed.
At present Kassu is doing painting with husband and family freely, she has participated in painting camps organized in various cities across the country including Bhopal and is engaged in continuous painting.
