Citizen Service Center to be opened in CM’s residence, says Khattar

Chandigarh:  To deliver the benefits of welfare schemes to the last person in the queue, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday said that he has taken the initiative to make the services of government departments online. “In this episode, to solve the problem of non-uploading of applications on the portal, we have directed the officers to immediately open a Citizen Service Center (CSC) at the Chief Minister's residence 'Sant Kabir Kutir',” he added.  While listening to complaints during the Janata Darbar, some people apprised the CM that problems are being faced while uploading the application on the portal. Taking immediate cognizance of this, he directed the officers present that a CSC should be opened here immediately.

 

Himachal CM flags off 2nd Motorsports Rally under Chalo Chamba campaign

Shimla: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Thursday flagged-off 2nd Edition of Rally of Chamba (Motorsports Rally) at Police Ground Chamba under ‘Chalo Chamba Campaign-2021’ at Chamba. He said that the ‘Chamba Chalo’ campaign was an innovative concept which would go a long way in promoting tourism activities in the beautiful district of Chamba. He said that Motorsports was one of the most popular sports particularly amongst the youth.  He said that as many as 100 motorists from about 18 states were participating in this event. He also expressed hope that the events would be held with greater fanfare in the coming time and emerge as a major event of the State.  Thakur also paid obeisance at Gurudwara Sahib in Chamba where the Head Granthi presented 'Saropa' to him. 

 

International literary festival ‘Unmesh’ begins in Himachal

Shimla: Three-day international literary festival ‘Unmesh’ began at Gaiety Theater here on Thursday. Over 425 writers, poets, translators, critics and distinguished personalities from 15 countries, representing over 60 languages, are attending the event.  The festival was formally inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Culture Arjun Ram Meghawal. Speaking on the occasion, Meghwal said Unmesh is being held for the first time and similar functions would be held in different parts of the country. The festival is being organised by the Union Ministry of Culture and the Sahitya Akademi with the support of the Himachal Pradesh Department of Art and Culture as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.  ‘Unmesh’ -- a celebration of expression -- is the biggest international literary festival in the country so far, the organisers said. More than 1,000 books related to the freedom movement will be displayed during the three-day event.Booker Prize-winning author Geetanjali Shree will express her views on women's writing in Indian languages.

 

Himachal Congress protests Rahul Gandhi's questioning by ED

Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh Congress on Thursday held a protest outside the Raj Bhavan here over party leader Rahul Gandhi's questioning by the Enforcement Directorate. Congress workers, led by state party unit president Pratibha Singh sat on “satyagraha” outside the Raj Bhavan. Leader of opposition Mukesh Agnihotri, state Congress working president Harsh Mahajan, MLAs Ramlal Thakur, Nand Lal, Mohan Lal Brakta, Vikramaditya Singh, Mahila Congress president Zainab Chandel also participated in the dharna. Pratibha Singh alleged political vendetta by the BJP government at the Centre against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi by making false cases against them. She said the Congress is not afraid of the “dictatorial policies and decisions” of the government. Agnihotri said the Modi government has converted the national headquarters of the Congress in Delhi into a police cantonment and party leaders were being stopped from going there.

 

Punjab Police arrests 5 persons with 4 pistols , Rs 6.5 lakh drug money

Jalandhar:  Punjab Police on Thursday claimed to have busted a drugs and arms smuggling racket with the arrest of its five gang members during a special police checking at T-Point Ladowali road Jalandhar. The gang has been busted by the Anti-Narcotic Cell of Jalandhar Commissionerate Police, a statement said.  Those arrested have been identified as Sunny, Smile alias Sheru, Divansh alias Vansh, Happy and Love Kumar, all residents of Jalandhar. The police have also recovered four .32 bore pistols along with 6 magazines and 32 live cartridges, Rs 6.5 lakh drug money, 103grams heroin, three cars–Maruti Swift, Hyundai Santro and Honda Amaze– and 550grams narcotic powder from their possession.  Commissioner of Police Jalandhar, Gursharan Singh Sandhu said that except accused Love Kumar, all the four accused persons are history sheeters and were wanted in several cases of violent crimes in the city and were evading arrest for a long time.

 

Intl Yoga Day: Haryana state level function at Bhiwanai

Chandigarh: On International Yoga Day, this time a state level Yoga Day function will be organized at Bhiwani on June 21, in which Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal will be the Chief Guest. To make people aware of yoga, a day before the ceremony, a marathon will be organized at Bhiwani's Bhim Stadium after the final rehearsal, in which school children and sports persons will participate. An official spokesperson said that at least 10,000 yoga practitioners will do yoga together in this state level Yoga Day programme.  Separate marking will be done for children's yoga practice and so that their seating can be ensured.
