KBN gang leader held; sword seized

Saturday, 29 January 2022 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

The Commissionerate police on Friday arrested Bubu Jena, the leader of the youth gang Koi Bhai Nahi (KBN) from Delta Square here. The cops also seized a sword from his possession.

The KBN gang had created sensation in the city by uploading a series of videos on social media in which its members openly brandished firearms and sharp weapons in public places.

Sources said the police would forward Jena to court and seek permission to take him on remand to ascertain his motive behind making such videos using firearms and sharp weapons.

The police had launched a hunt to nab Jena, who went underground following a police crackdown against the gang. The cops had also raided his house at Gandamunda.

The police had also demolished the house of Chenga, another member of the gang, following information that illegal firearms were stockpiled in his house.

The police have already arrested nine members of the gang after identifying them from the viral videos.

In one such viral video, the members of the gang were seen partying in a vehicle by parking it in the middle of a National Highway, following which the Commissionerate police were in a tizzy and peace loving citizens felt concerned about their safety.
