Get ready to pay more for breeding of mosquitoes in New Delhi Municipal Council areas in the national Capital. The NDMC on Wednesday hiked the penalty fee by 900 per cent for breeding mosquitoes as 1429 dengue cases have been reported in the national Capital so far. The penalty amount of Rs 500 hundred was increased to Rs 5000, while the penalty of Rs 20 hiked to Rs 200. The decision to hike in penalty was taken at the NDMC meeting on Wednesday.
According to the Vice Chairman of the NDMC, Satish Upadhyay, this decision was taken on the directions issued by the Delhi High Court in the order dated December 24, 2021, February 25, 2022 and March 25, 2022 directed Delhi Government and local bodies to amend the relevant statutory provisions regarding Malaria and other Mosquito Borne Diseases Bye-laws to enhance the penalty amount to be more effective deterrent.
