SIDHU MOOSEWALA MURDER CASE: Punjab Police sent proposal to CBI NS/Chandigarh

Thursday, 09 June 2022 | PNS | Chandigarh

Punjab police on Wednesday claimed the initiation of the process to bring back gangster Goldy Brar — who claimed responsibility for killing renowned Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi Gang on May 29 — 10 days before the murder.

The police have claimed that it had sent the proposal on May 19 to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to issue a Red Corner notice against Goldy Brar that would pave the way for his extradition to India.

In fact, the police claimed that it had also sought, on May 5 this year, issuance of Red Corner Notices (RCNs) from the CBI against the Pak-based wanted gangster-terrorist Harwinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda, considered close to BKI chief Wadhawa Singh and a close associate of Lakhvir Singh Landa — the key conspirator of the RPG attack on Punjab Police’s intelligence headquarters in Mohali on May 9.

The Punjab police spokesperson maintained that the proposal is under process at the level of the CBI, Central National Bureau for liaison with Interpol. Spokesperson added that on the execution of the Red Corner Notice, the extradition proposal shall be moved through MHA and MEA.

“Punjab government is committed in its fight against criminal groups or gangs who are disturbing peace of the state from foreign soil...In view of the priority of State Government of an exemplary action against criminal groups or gangs, all cases of extradition of foreign-based criminals shall be vigorously pursued in coming time,” said the spokesperson.

Spokesperson said that with Goldy Brar claiming the responsibility for Sidhu Moosewala murder on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi Gang, the Punjab Police has not been leaving any stone unturned to extradite the gangster.

Satinderjit Singh alias Goldy Brar, a native of Sri Muktsar Sahib who had gone to Canada on a student visa in 2017, is an active member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, said the spokesperson.

Spokesperson said that the proposal for issuance of the Red Corner notice was sent on the basis of two cases including FIR dated November 12, 2020, under sections 307, 427, 148, 149, 120-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and sections 25, 27, 54, 59 of the Arms Act, at Faridkot City police station, in Faridkot district; and another case dated February 18, 2021, under sections 302, 120-B, and 34 of the IPC, and 25, 54, and 59 of Arms Act at Faridkot city police station.

“Punjab Police has also sought the issuance of Red Corner Notices (RCNs) against gangster-turned-terrorist Harwinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda of Rattoke village in Tarn Taran, which has been sent to the CBI on May 5, 2022. Rinda, who is responsible for inducting and operationalizing many terrorist modules in Punjab in the recent past, is now based in Pakistan,” said the spokesperson.

Spokesperson said that Rinda, backed by Pak ISI, has also been responsible for smuggling in a huge quantity of arms and ammunition in India. A huge quantity of arms and ammunition and IEDs, recovered from four terrorists arrested in Karnal in a joint operation with Punjab police, also belonged to Rinda, added the spokesperson.

“Most recently, he was responsible for RPG attack on Intelligence Headquarters through his operatives; grenade attack on CIA Office in SBS Nagar in November 2021; and IED attack on police post Kahlwan in Anandpur Sahib, Rupnagar,” added the spokesperson.

Police spokesperson said that red corner against Rinda has been sought in three cases of Patiala district including FIR dated January 6, 2014, under sections 307, 332, 353, 186, 148, 149 of the IPC at Tripuri police station; FIR dated May 26, 2016, under sections 307, 341, 473, 34 of IPC and 25, 54, 59 of the Arms Act at Patiala Sadar police station; and FIR dated July 19, 2016, under sections 399, 402, 413, 473, 120-B of IPC and section 25, 54, 59 of Arms Act, and sections 22, 61, 85 of the NDPS Act at Rajpura City police station.
