State adds 7,291 Covid cases, 5 deaths

The State on Monday witnessed a further dip in the Covid-19 positive cases with 7,291 infections reported in the 30 districts and the State pool. Now, the total tally has increased to12,11,951.

Among the newly-infected were 954 children in the age group of 0 to 18 years.

In the last 24 hours, 61,969 samples were tested and the test positivity rate (TPR) was 11.76 per cent. The total active cases stood at 81,765.

Notably, on Sunday, the State had recorded 8,520 cases.

Out of the new cases, 4,226 were reported from quarantine and 3,065 local contacts.

Khordha district reported the highest 1,705 cases followed by Sundargarh with 646, Cuttack 561, Baleswar 343, Rayagada 295, Subarnapur 282, Mayurbhan 229, Balangir 218, Jajpur 203, Nayagarh 192, Angul 183, Sambalpur 176, Kalahandi 173, Nuapada 160, Nabarangpur 148, Keonjhar 132, Bargarh 130, Jagatsinghpur 121, Puri 116, Koraput 111, Kendrapada 109, Dhenknal 96, Gajapati 95, Jharsuguda 83, Deogarh 62, Malkangiri 57 and Ganjam 50.

Besides, 365 cases were reported from the State pool.

Five more persons succumbed to the disease, pushing the total death toll to 8,525. Baleswar, Khordha, Cuttack, Keonjhar and Sundargarh districts reported one fatality each.

However, 10,309 more patients recovered, increasing the total recoveries to 11,319,17.

Capital Bhubaneswar registered 925 Covid-19 cases, with which the total tally in the city rose to 14,4,444.

The highest 99 cases were reported from the Khandagiri area.

The active cases stood at 10,476.

One more person succumbed to the disease, taking the total death toll to 1,110.

However, 1,325 more patients recovered, increasing the total recoveries to 1,32,567 in the city.
