State Covid cases further dip to 8,845

The downward trend in the Covid-19 cases continued in the State on Saturday with 8,845 persons testing positive in the 30 districts and the State pool on Saturday. With this, the total tally increased to 11,96,140.

Among the newly-infected were 927 children in the age group of 0 to 18 years. 

Notably, the State had reported 9,833 Covid cases on Friday.

Of the new cases, 5,128 were from quarantine and 3,717 local contacts.

Khordha district reported the maximum 2,528 cases followed by Sundargarh with 1,001, Cuttack 628, Baleswar 290. Kalahandi 239,  Balangir 232, Rayagada 221, Jajpur 209, Nuapada 205, Koraput 203, Nabarangpur 187, Jagatsinghpur 180, Angul 160,  Mayurbhanj 152,  Jharsuguda 144, Bargarh 141, Bhadrak 117,  Keonjhar 110, Kandhamal 109, Boudh 93, Kendrapada and Gajapati 92 each, Deogarh 55, Ganjam 53 and Malkangiri 50.

Besides, 507 cases were reported from the State pool.

The active cases stood at 88,150.

Seven more Covid patients died in the State, pushing the total death toll to 8,514. Two deaths were reported from Angul district and one each from Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj and Puri.

However, 11,344 more patients recovered, increasing the total recoveries to 11,107,67.

Capital Bhubaneswar registered 1,532 Covide cases, with which the total tally in the city rose to 1,42, 244.

The highest 147 cases were reported from Khandagiri.

The active cases in the city were 11,156.
