Ujjain railway station has been awarded 'Eat Right Station' certification by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India giving five star rating which will be valid for one year. This certification is given to those stations where safe and nutritious food is served to the passengers.

Railway Public Relations Officer Khemraj Meena said that Ujjain station of Western Railway Ratlam Division has been given 'Eat Right Station' certification by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). It will be valid till 15 November 2024.

The 'Eat Right Station' certification by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India is awarded to stations that set standards in providing safe and nutritious food to passengers. 'Eat Right' is a campaign by the Government of India to transform the country's food system by ensuring safe and healthy food for all Indians.

At Ujjain station also various parameters for 'Eat Right Station' certification such as platform, station premises, cleanliness and hygiene of various stalls, no use of single use plastic, no use of paper for food items, food items Ingredients used for preparation like spices, salt etc. should be branded, expiry date should be written on all food items, use of hand gloves by vendors and their police verification, facility of pure drinking water, dry and wet waste dustbins were examined.

Based on the report of the investigating officers, the Ujjain railway station has been awarded this certificate by the FSSAI.
