When very poor is good!

The Air Quality Index (AQI) of the national capital on Monday marginally improves to 347 which fall under the “very poor” category, as per the bulletin released by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data.   Meanwhile, maximum temperature is expected to dip further in the national capital region in the coming days.

Delhi's 24-hour average AQI stood at 407 at 4 pm on Sunday. The city air quality was last classified in the “severe" category on November 4, when the AQI was 447.

The AQI of Ghaziabad stood at (281), Faridabad 294, and Gurugram at (288) which comes under poor category. On the other hand, Noida and Greater Noida), reported the AQI at (305) and (350) respectively which comes under the”very poor” category, according to a data of the pollution control board.

Out of the total 36 station, most of the stations in the city recorded the AQI in the ‘very poor’ category are Anand Vihar (374), NSIT Dwarka station (352), Jahangir Puri (337), Vivek Vihar (345), Wazirpur (358), Alipur (348), Ashok Vihar (352), R K Puram (364), Bawana (356), DTU (324),  Narela (335), Shadipur (371), Mundka (359), Nehru Nagar (388), Patparganj (363), Punjabi Bagh (366),  and Sonia Vihar (360),” data stated.

“Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium (353), Mandir Marg (326), Najafgarh (323), Okhla Phase 2 (343), Rohini (366), CRRI Mathura Road (327), Dwarka-Sector 8 (375), Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium (352), ITO (377) and Sirifort (340) also recorded the AQI under the ‘very poor’ category, the CPCB data said.

IHBAS, Dilshad Garden (290) reported the AQI to the ‘poor’ category, said pollution board. An AQI between 201 and 300 is considered”poor", 301 and 400”very poor", and 401 and 500”severe".

As pollution levels in the national capital shot up on Sunday, the Centre's air quality panel directed authorities in the Delhi-NCR to ban non-essential construction work in the region under stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). Delhi witnessed a maximum temperature of 25.6 degrees Celsius, a notch above the normal for this time of the year.However, minimum temperature was 7.6 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season's average.
