The Industrial police in Baleswar town have arrested six persons, including two minors in connection with the firing on May 24 under the Industrial police station area.
While five of the accused were nabbed from Bhubaneswar one was held from Baleswar. The arrested were identified as main accused Udit Nayak (20), Saroj Behera (23), Karan Kumar Barua (18) Suresh Chandra Behera (19) and two juveniles .
The motive behind the incident was offensive comments on the social medi between t two groups, said Baleswar SP Sagarika Nath on Sunday.
Most of the accused had fled to the State capital after committing the offence . The weapon of offence, the pistol was also seized.
The main accused Udit Nayak in a bid to settle old scores had called Amit Das and Pinku Dasto Remuna Golai and shot a few rounds after conspiring with the other co- accused , said Nath.
Pinku received bullet injuries in the firing and was admitted to hospital. Police said that Udit was a You- Tuber and used to post some provocative and offensive contents to get more views. This led to provocative comments from both sides which led to the firing.
