Bilkhiria police arrest two thieves for stealing diesel, 420 litre seized

Bilkhiria police have arrested two thieves who stole diesel using a rented truck, police have seized 420 liters of diesel worth Rs 42000 and seized trucks from their possession.

The accused used to drive in a truck on the highway and would park near the trucks which would stop for loading and unloading in the transport area and other areas.

On receiving the complaint, the police started the investigation. A truck was identified with the help of CCTV and whose registration number was extracted from the camera installed at the toll plaza.

On Tuesday morning, on the basis of information, the police seized the truck and arrested the accused. The accused had hired the truck to commit the theft.

SHO Sunil Chaturvedi said that on February 23, a boring machine worker lodged a complaint about theft of 500 liters of diesel. Even before this, many incidents of diesel theft from trucks were reported from the area. It was investigated and a truck was identified with the help of CCTV footage.

The truck bearing registration number MP09HF8069 at 6 am was tracked and the accused were nabbed.

Truck driver was Saddam (29) of Maksi district Shajapur and Sadiq (32) of Dewas were arrested.  Police recovered 420 liters of diesel from the accused. A truck worth Rs 20 lakh has also been seized from the accused.

During interrogation, it was revealed that the duo had hired the truck to do the work. The truck owner has been contacted, further action will be taken after his arrival.

The modus operandi was to steal diesel from trucks parked roadside and from trucks and dumpers at transport nagar where they would stop and park for loading and unloading goods at night. Truck drivers leave the truck to take rest providing opportunity for the accused.

The accused would come with the truck, park their truck next to the truck standing. After this, they would take out the diesel and escape.
