Punjab Vidhan Sabha Session on November 28

Chandigarh: Punjab Vidhan Sabha’s official spokesperson on Wednesday said that the Punjab Governor has summoned the Punjab Vidhan Sabha to meet for its fifth session on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 2 pm in Punjab Vidhan Sabha Hall, Vidhan Bhavan at Chandigarh.

Karnataka Vidhan Sabha delegation visits Punjab legislative assembly

Chandigarh: To get firsthand information about the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) project specifically implemented for the first time in Punjab Legislative Assembly, a delegation from Karnataka Vidhan Sabha, led by its Speaker UT Khader Fareed, on Wednesday visited Punjab Legislative Assembly. Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan informed the delegation that the entire work of the House, including functioning of the sessions, is being accomplished in a completely digital and paperless manner. A digital wing has been set up to make the functioning hi-tech and connect it with modern tools of communication like IT in digital wing Cell, NIC Cell, Hi-Tech Training Room (Neva Service Centre), Hi-Tech Control Room, Network Control Room,” he added.

Rs 3,816-cr works approved to improve power supply

Chandigarh: Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) will carry out intensive system improvement works for loss reduction under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). “Works of Rs 3,816 crore have been approved under the detailed project report (DPR) for loss reduction, which shall improve the quality and reliability of power supply to the consumers of Punjab through system strengthening works,” said the state Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO on Wednesday. He said that segregation of 227 Kandi mixed feeders, bifurcation of 1146 feeders, new distribution transformers with HT/LT line on 1614 feeders, reconductoring of HT/LT line on 1799 feeders will be done under infrastructure works for loss reduction and 40 new 66 kV substations including compact GIS substations, among others.
 
Punjab VB nabs BDPO for taking Rs 15k bribe in his office

Chandigarh: Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Wednesday apprehended a Block Development and Panchayats Officer (BDPO) Vipan Kumar Sharma, posted at Batala in Gurdaspur district, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000. Spokesperson said that the arrest of the BDPO was made following a complaint lodged by Happy Gill, a resident of Sekhwan village in Gurdaspur district. The complainant alleged that the accused BDPO had demanded Rs 40,000 as a bribe from his wife, who is sarpanch of village Sekhwan, to clear a bill amounting to Rs 1.33 lakhs related to purchase of cement used in the development works in the village. The complainant added that the deal had been struck at Rs 30,000, and the BDPO had taken Rs 15,000 on November 20, and was demanding the remaining amount.

Govt steps up efforts to enhance Rail connectivity: Hry CS

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal on Wednesday said that the State Government is actively preparing to formulate an ambitious plan for the enhancement of the state's rail network. After presiding over the 26th Board of Directors (BoD) meeting of Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (HRIDC), the Chief Secretary, who is also chairman of the corporation, said that to spearhead this initiative, a dedicated committee has been instituted, comprising officials from pivotal departments, including Town and Country Planning (TCP), Public Works/Buildings and Roads (PW/B&R), Industries and Commerce, Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC), Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC), and Haryana Infrastructure and Industrial Development Corporation Limited (HIHMCL). Kurukshetra elevated track project, with a budget exceeding Rs 225 crore, is slated to be completed by February 2024, he added.

Hry Police and RBI organise training programme on ‘identification and control of fake currency’

Chandigarh: In a joint initiative by Haryana Police and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), a state-level training programme was conducted at Haryana-112 auditorium focusing on 'Identification of Fake Currency and Overall Control on its Circulation’. Additional Director General of Police, Cyber OP Singh, participated as the chief guest, shedding light on the challenges of identifying fake currency and cyber security issues. Police department officials along with state Investigating officers participated in this training programme. Singh stated that the possibility of human error in identifying fake notes is relatively high, so they must be identified using software-based machines. During this, he emphasised the importance of artificial intelligence.  Srivastava stressed the significance of a strong action plan to reduce the circulation of fake currency and the imperative need for public awareness. He highlighted the ongoing efforts by RBI to prevent fake currency from entering the market, urging bank employees to adhere strictly to RBI guidelines and not return fake notes but report them promptly.

26 Deptts in Hry upload 141 DBT schemes on State Portal

Chandigarh: The Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal on Wednesday said that out of the 83 schemes implemented by various departments of the State Government, benefits from 74 schemes have been notified under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Scheme and have been linked to the Aadhar Card. These schemes should also be operated through Parivar Pehchan Patra, added Kaushal. Presiding over the third meeting of the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Advisory Board, the Chief Secretary said that as on date, 26 Departments have uploaded 141 DBT schemes on the State DBT portal. Out of total 141 schemes, 83 are State Schemes and 58 are Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS).Kaushal said that the State Government has effectively identified a cumulative total of 36,74,833 ghost/duplicate beneficiaries from the fiscal year 2014-15 to 2022-23. This strategic initiative has yielded substantial notional savings amounting to Rs. 7,822.69 crore.

Haryana's start-up policy shows results at IITF Delhi

Chandigarh: Haryana government's start-up scheme, which was launched to motivate the state’s youth to implement their novel ideas and adopt entrepreneurship and become self-reliant, has started showing results and is now gaining prominence amongst the youth, said the government official spokesperson on Wednesday. He said that taking advantage of this state government’s initiative; the youth of Haryana are stepping forward to become entrepreneurs. Some young entrepreneurs of the State are participating in the India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2023 bring held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi and they have showcased their products at the Haryana Pavilion. In the IITF at Pragati Maidan, innovative start-ups from Haryana, including small businesses associated with MSMEs from different parts of Haryana are showcased. These start-ups not only provide solutions to problems of environmental pollution and traffic jams but also contribute towards solving life style related health issues. Among them is an e-cycle developed using modern technology, contributing to both health and environmental awareness.
