Punjab Govt to provide all assistance to horticulture: Minister

Fazilka: Punjab Horticulture Minister Chetan Singh Jauramajra on Friday addressed the concerns of Kinnow growers at Citrus Estate Abohar while assuring swift resolution of their issues. The Minister directed the District Mandi Officer to ensure proper functioning of the mandi. He categorically emphasized taking legal action against anyone impeding farmers in getting adequate price by creating a pool and instructed officials to provide J-Forms promptly to farmers after selling crops at the Kinnow mandi. The Minister also assured the farmers that the government would offer comprehensive support in addition to the existing subsidy framework, adding that the Department's various schemes would be reviewed to increase subsidies for farmers based on updated needs and new schemes will be initiated.

 

Punjab VB books Patwari, three others for taking Rs 34.70L bribe

Chandigarh: Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Friday registered a corruption case against revenue Patwari Gurwinder Singh, posted at revenue halqa Pirubanda, East Ludhiana, along with his private agent Nikku for obtaining Rs 34.70 lakh as a bribe. In this case, patwari’s brother and father have also been booked for conspiring with him in accepting the bribe. Spokesperson said that the complainant Babbu Tanwar, a resident of Rampura Phool town in Bathinda district, had lodged a complaint against the said Patwari and his private agent on the Chief Minister's Anti-Corruption Action Line alleging that the duo have accepted a bribe amount of Rs 40,000 for sanctioning mutation of property belonging to his father which was got registered in 1994.

 

Hry to celebrate Constitution Day on Nov 26

Chandigarh: Haryana Government on Friday decided to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India by celebrating Samvidhan Diwas (Constitution Day) on November 26. In a letter directed to all Administrative Secretaries, Heads of Departments, and Deputy Commissioners, State Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal has urged that officers and officials in all government offices, attached and subordinate offices, autonomous bodies, organizations, and institutions, including educational establishments, read the Preamble to the Constitution as part of the celebrations. It added that talks and webinars on Constitutional values and the fundamentals of the Indian Constitution may also be organized. Citizens are also encouraged to take part in the online 'Read the Preamble' activity.

 

Public awareness campaign on organ donation, transplantation at PGIMER

Chandigarh: PGIMER’s Department of Renal Transplant Surgery on Friday organized a public awareness campaign on Organ Donation and Transplantation to kick-start Golden Anniversary Summit on Kidney and Pancreas Transplantation. The event witnessed participation of over 500 delegates from across the country. Chandigarh MP Kirron Kher was the chief guest while PGIMER’s director Prof Vivek Lal was the Guest of Honour. Kher said that the Government of India has launched the Ayushman Bharat scheme which covers dialysis for the beneficiaries and has now even included kidney transplants for the beneficiaries.

 

‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ scheme proving to boon for every citizen: Minister

Chandigarh: Haryana Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Anoop Dhanak on Friday said that the success and immense benefits of the ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ scheme has emerged as a blessing for citizens across the country. Dhanak, addressing the beneficiaries of the scheme during inauguration of the Samvad programme in Faridabad, said that not only Haryana residents, but also people from other parts of the country, are benefiting from this programme. In Faridabad district, 4619 people who came to work from other states received rations in January, and 9831 people have benefited from this scheme in October.

 

Bajwa slams AAP Govt over unchecked illegal mining 

Chandigarh: The Leader of Opposition in Punjab Vidhan Sabha Partap Singh Bajwa on Friday condemned the AAP-led Punjab Government in the strongest possible terms for its utter failure to keep check on illegal sand mining in the State. “Punjab Government seems to have surrendered itself to the mining mafia. Illegal sand mining has been on without any deterrence from law enforcement agencies. From the manner the illegal mining is going on openly, it appears that there is some sort of connivance between the mining mafia and some influential people within the government,” he said citing reports of a Drainage Department employee being allegedly run over by a tractor and killed a day before after he tried to stop illegal mining in Kotla Bajja village, which falls in the jurisdiction of Rangar Nangal police station of Batala police district. 

 

GSC honours efforts to resettle Afghan Sikhs, Hindu refugees

Chandigarh:  A special congregation was held at Gurudwara Sri Guru Arjan Dev ji, New Mahavir Nagar, Delhi, Sri Sehaj Paath and Sri Akhand Paths were completed in the honour of late Manmeet Singh Bhullar, in whose memory the Bhullar Foundation is relentlessly working for amelioration of the lives of Aghan Sikhs and Hindus and other sections of the community. On the occasion, the Afghan Sikh Sangat honoured and felicitated Paramjit Singh Bedi, a sheet anchor of the Bedi Foundation and also vice-president of the Global Sikh Council (GSC), for his untiring efforts in the Afghan Sikhs and Hindu refugee relocation project.
