Cong dharna against not inviting Prez at Parliament inaguration

Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee, on Sunday, held dharna in front of the statue of Lord Birsa Munda at Birsa Chowk in protest against the President not being invited to the inauguration ceremony of the newly built Parliament House.

Jharkhand Congress Legislature Party Leader cum Rural Development Minister in the State Government, Alamgir Alam was present in this protest program along with JPCC Chief, Rajesh Thakur and former MLA Mamta Devi was present.

Addressing the dharna, Alam said that the work of depriving the country of the rights given by the constitution is being done. “Not getting the President to inaugurate the Parliament nor invite him to the ceremony is an insult to the Country's highest constitutional post.. Parliament is not made of bricks of ego, but of constitutional values,” he added.

The CLP Leader said that this Country should be run by the constitution and not by dictatorship. “140 crore Indians want to know what you want to convey by taking away their rights from the President. Today the entire Tribal and Dalit community of the Country is heartbroken. BJP and Prime Minister Modi have insulted Draupadi Murmu, the first tribal woman sitting on the highest constitutional post of the Country. They have ignored the provisions of Article 79 of the Constitution. Congressmen will go to each and every panchayat in a tribal village of Jharkhand and we will work to tell people that the BJP remembers the tribal society only at the time of electoral gains, while it deprives them of their rights when the time comes,” he added.

Alam said that not calling the constitutional head of the Country, the army chief and the President who addressed both the Houses of Parliament, on the inauguration, is a completely dictatorial attitude. “This is very dangerous for democracy. This is a conspiracy to destroy constitutional institutions. Which Congress will never tolerate. Even after repeated requests, demands and requests from the opposition, the BJP and Prime Minister, Narendra Modi did not listen to them. Today the democracy of the Country is in danger. It is the responsibility of the Congress to save it,” he added.

On the occasion Thakur said that the objection of the Congress is not that the Prime Minister of the Country is inaugurating it. “The objection is that you are getting pundits and priests from chartered planes. But the constitutional head of the Country sitting in Delhi is not inviting the President to the inauguration ceremony. What kind of stubbornness is this and the beginning of a new tradition. The people of the Country will never forget this insult of the President,” he added.
