DU classrooms, labs to open from 8 am to 8 pm

New Delhi: The Delhi University (DU) has directed all its colleges and departments to keep their classrooms and laboratories open from 8 am to 8 pm on working days to ensure the efficient use of resources. A notification to this effect has been posted on the university’s website. Additionally, the colleges and departments have been instructed to submit a report on the actions taken by May 31, according to an official statement.

IIMS to launch 2 new executive MBA progs

New Delhi:  The Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur (IIMS) has announced the launch of two new Executive MBA programmes – General Management & Digital Transformation and Analytics in the current academic year. The two programmes are designed for working professionals in collaboration with University of Bordeaux and University of Paris, France, with an aim to empower business leaders with the knowledge and skills of today rapidly changing work environment. “We are confident that these programs will have a positive impact on our participants and their organizations, and are proud to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of executive education in India,” said  Dr. Prafulla Agnihotri, Director, IIM Sirmaur during the launch of new courses.

brother-in-law slits man’s throat in nangloi

New Delhi:  A 20-year-old man died on Friday after his brother-in-law allegedly slit his throat in west Delhi’s Nangloi area, police said.  Accused Pankaj Rana is absconding and the reason for the murder is not clear. However, the pair was not on good terms, they said.  Around 1.30 pm on Friday, the police received a PCR call where the called informed the operator that his brother had killed a man.  The body was found at Railway Station Park of Veena Encalve in the Nangloi area. A blood-stained kitchen knife was also found near the body, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Harendra Singh said.  The victim has been identified as Vikas alias Akash from Kirari Suleman Nagar.

People from manipur stage protest in delhi

New Delhi:  A group of people from Manipur on Friday staged a demonstration at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar against the ongoing violence in the state over the Meitei community Scheduled Tribe status issue.  The protesters were seen carrying placards bearing messages such as “Save Manipur, Save Meitei”.  Clashes broke out in Manipur on Wednesday in the Torbung area of Churachandpur district during a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ organised by the All Tribal Student Union Manipur to protest against the demand of Meiteis for Scheduled Tribe status.  The march was organised by tribal groups, including the Nagas and the Kukis, after the Manipur High Court last month asked the state government to send a recommendation to the Centre within four weeks on the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe status.

technical glitch hits violet line service

New Delhi:  Services on Delhi Metro’s Violet Line were affected for nearly two hours on Friday due to technical issues, causing inconvenience to commuters. The Violet Line runs between Kashmere Gate in Delhi and Ballabhgarh in Haryana. Many people took to Twitter to share the inconvenience faced by them due to the delay in services.   

Movie on AP tribe to hit screens nationwide

New Delhi: ‘Love in 90s’, the first-ever movie based on the Tagin community, one of the major tribes in the Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh  will be soon screened nationwide, showcasing the  rich culture, song and food of the far Northeastern State. The trailer of the film will be launched by Minister for Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju on Saturday at an event at the National Media Centre here. “It is a celebration of Arunachal Pradesh’s culture and tradition and a tribute to the resilience of its people,” says Tapen Natam, Director of the film.

Joint convocation programme organised

New Delhi: A Joint convocation ceremony of Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS, including Manav Rachna Dental College {MRDC}) and Manav Rachna University was held recently to celebrate the achievements of its students of batch 2022. This was the 8th Convocation for MRU and the 18th convocation for MRIIRS. Dr Raghunath Anant Mashelkar, Indian Chemical Engineer and former DG CSIR and Prof. Yogesh Singh, Vice-Chancellor, DU were the guests of honour at the event.
