CONSTABLE DIES IN ROAD MISHAP IN GANJAM

Chhatrapur: A Constable of the Odisha State Armed Police (OSAP) 8th Battalion was killed in a road accident in Ganjam district on Friday. Bishnu Behera, a resident of Takiria in Brahmapur, died when he was hit by a tractor on NH-16 near Agasti Nuagaon. Irate locals blocked the highway. Police reached the spot, pacified the agitators and send the body for postmortem.

Bhubaneswar: Bijay Kumar Nayak has been appointed as the chief of Odisha region and deputy of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Bhubaneswar Head Office from January 30. An officer of the 1985 batch of the Telecommunications Department, Nayak has worked in various important posts in Odisha and outside efficiently. Nayak said he would try to ensure that the people of Odisha avail 5G services at affordable prices, informed local BSNL PRO Manoj Sarangi.  

 

AMITAV GHOSH OPENS TATA STEEL BBSR LIT MEET  (Pix)

Bhubaneswar: The 7th edition of the Tata Steel Bhubaneswar Literary Meet began at the Bhubaneswar Club on Friday. The three-day festival was inaugurated by Jnanpith awardee Amitav Ghosh. The inauguration was followed by a discussion on a very relevant issue of modern world, the impact of climate changes.

 

LMS LAUNCHED AT BIREN MITRA WOMEN’S COLLEGE  (Pix)

Cuttack: The Library Management System (LMS) was inagaurated at the Biren Mitra Memorial Women’s (Degree) College here by Mo College Abhijan Chairperson Akash DasNayak on Wednesday. The event was held under the supervision of Principal Prahalad Chandra Biswal.

College founder Prasanna Kumar Tripathy and guest of honour Er Nagendra Kumar Mohanty were present.

DasNayak said, “The LMS is the support system for traditional face-to-face instruction as well as blended/hybrid and distance learning environments. College Co-Coordinator of Mo College Abhijan Dr Rajashree Swain spoke about the functions of digital library.

 

DR PARIDA IN CHARGE AS AIIMS MED SUPER  (Pix)

Bhubaneswar: AIIMS Bhubaneswar Radiation Oncology Department HoD Prof Dillip Kumar Parida has been assigned additional charge of Medical Superintendent of the institute. He will be in-charge of the post till its filling-up on a regular basis or till further order. AIIMS Bhubaneswar Executive Director Prof Ashutosh Biswas congratulated Dr Parida.

 

TPSODL LAUNCHES OTS SCHEME

Brahmapur: As per the guidelines of the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC), the TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) has launched an OTS (One-Time Settlement) scheme for its customers. The scheme covers eight southern districts, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Boudh and Kandhamal. The scheme provides up to a 30% rebate on electricity arrears till April 21. “We are sure this scheme will provide much-needed relief to our consumers and will benefit them in more ways than one,” said TPSODL CEO Arvind Singh.
