Chhattisgarh’s self- supporting Gauthans made more payments than the Agriculture Department to procure cow dung from January 1 to 15.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said this on Saturday while disbursing Rs 8.93 crore to the beneficiaries of Godhan Nyay Yojana virtually here.
The Agriculture Department paid Rs 1.75 crore while 4,690 self- supporting Gauthans paid Rs 2.52 crore out of the Rs 4.27 crore paid to cow dung vendors, an official statement said on Saturday.
These Gauthans have procured cow dung worth Rs 37.71 crore till date.
The scheme was launched on July 20, 2020. A total of 100.86 lakh quintals of cow dung have been procured at Rs. 2 per kg paying Rs 201.72 crores to cow dung vendors.
The government is also buying cow urine at Rs 4 per litre. The women self-help groups earned an income of Rs 23.98 lakh from the sale of insecticide Brahmastra and enhancer Jeevamrut prepared from ‘gaumutra’.
During the Chief Minister's visits as part of public interaction (Bhent Mulaqat), he made an appeal to farmers to donate hay. The farmers have donated 15.68 lakh quintals of paddy stubble to Gauthans.
The state has approved 10,921 Gauthans. Of this, 9,596 have been built.
