Nishatpura police arrested a vehicle lifter and recovered 12 two wheelers worth Rs 8 lakh; accused used to steal vehicles as he is fond of riding bikes, he has been booked for 8 crimes of theft and burglary.
Police said that stolen vehicles were identified using the e-rakshak app.
In the investigation on April 8 on the theft of motorcycle Splendor number MP04QC44881 from the parking in front of V-Mart under police station Nishatpura area complaint was lodged by Sanjay Sharma of Sanjeev.
After the crime was registered, a team started to investigate and inspected the incident site closely and obtained CCTV camera footage covering the incident. On the basis of the obtained footage, a search was conducted on the possible escapes of the unknown accused.
During this time, identification was established by watching the footage of about 50 CCTV cameras and on April 16 the accused was trapped with a stolen motorcycle near the under construction colony behind Shanti Apartment located in Nishatpura police station area. When the motorcycle found in the possession of the accused was verified with the help of E Rakshak app it was found to be a stolen motorcycle and a case under section 379 of IPC was registered with the Nishatpura police. An illegal knife was also found and action has been taken under the Arms Act.
When the accused was arrested in the case and interrogated at the police station, the accused confessed to committing 13 vehicle thefts in Bhopal city and Begumganj Raisen. Out of which two vehicles are said to be sold to Narendra Lodhi, resident of Begumganj.
