Lakhs of devotees thronged the venue to listen to sermons from top scholars on the second day of the 77th Aalmi Tablighi Ijtema at village Eintkhedi, on the outskirts of the state capital, on Saturday.
Some traffic disruptions were reported from the Berasia road, especially around the Karond intersection, as the arrival of Jamaats continued at the Old City railway station.
Volunteers worked to facilitate the free flow of vehicles through the area, parts of which remained covered by construction sheets due to the ongoing metro rail project.
Proceedings on the second day started with daybreak sermons by Maulana Jamshed Sahab, while Maulana Saeed Kandhalvi, Maulana Manzoor, and Maulana Saad Kandhalvi addressed the congregation during the afternoon, evening, and post-dusk sessions, respectively.
The speakers exhorted congregants to lead a life of piety and service in adherence to the guiding principles of their faith.
They said that it was crucial for people to avoid all that is prohibited in Islam, including the receiving and giving of interest.
Scholars also motivated the devout to pursue the methods of the Tablighi Jamaat and reach out to fellow Muslims with the message of the religion, bringing them back to the path ordained in the scriptures.
Meanwhile, thousands of volunteers continued to provide valuable round-the-clock services to people attending the four-day event, which concludes with a large prayer congregation on December 2.
The culmination of the Ijtema event marks the beginning of the final voluntary effort by Jamaat followers, who then focus on cleaning and clearing the venue of all signs of the congregation, one of the largest in the world.
Thousands of volunteers work for nearly a month after the conclusion of the Ijtema to ensure that installations at the venue are carefully dismantled, cleaned, and stored for the next year.
They also ensure that no residues from the event are left behind to cause trouble for residents, animals, birds, and trees that inhabit the area.Volunteers say that even if the effort is cumbersome, they are satisfied that their humble deeds count for the Khidmat or service, which Tablighi Jamaat elders describe as a cornerstone of faith.
