AAP putting pressure on its leaders to do fake sting operation on me: Maliwal

Thursday, 23 May 2024 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, who was allegedly assaulted by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s aide Bibhav Kumar, claimed on Wednesday that the party was putting pressure on everyone to leak her personal photos and do “fake sting operations”. She said that she got a call from a senior leader of the party on Tuesday. “He told me how there is a lot of pressure on everyone, they have to speak dirty things against Swati, they have to break her by leaking her personal photos,” she said.

Maliwal on Wednesday claimed that there is a conspiracy within the Aam Aadmi Party to malign her by “leaking her personal photos”. In a post on X, Maliwal, who has accused Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s personal secretary Bibhav Kumar of assaulting her, alleged that AAP leaders are under immense pressure to speak ill of her.

She stated, “Yesterday, I got a call from a senior leader of the party. He told me how there is a lot of pressure on everyone, they have to speak dirty things against Swati, they have to break her by leaking her personal photos. It is being said that whoever supports her will be expelled from the party. Someone has been given the duty of doing PC and someone else has been given the duty of tweeting.”

Maliwal further claimed that party members have been assigned various tasks to undermine her, such as contacting volunteers in America to gather information against her and preparing fake sting operations through beat reporters close to the accused.

Without naming anyone specifically, Maliwal alleged that a woman minister of Delhi was maligning her character. “I am not angry with them, the accused is a very powerful man. Even the biggest leaders are afraid of him. No one has the courage to take a stand against him. I don’t even expect anything from anyone. I feel sad that the woman minister of Delhi is smilingly maligning the character of an old female colleague of the party, she said.

“I have started a fight for my self-respect, I will continue to fight until I get justice. I am completely alone in this fight but I will not give up,” she added.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police has brought back Bibhav Kumar from Mumbai, where he had been taken for data discovery from his iPhone. Kumar is currently in a five-day police custody in connection with the alleged assault on Swati Maliwal at the Delhi CM’s residence. His phones, laptop, and CCTV recordings from Kejriwal’s house have been sent for forensic examination.
