Urban civic body election is now awaited most. It is believed the first half of 2025 may see elections of the Nagar Nigams, Nagar Parishads, Nagar Panchayats, Notified Area Committees, Army Cantonment etc.
There are 9 Municipal corporations in Jharkhand. Medininagar Municipal Corporation is one of the 9 municipal corporations.
Rumblings are on for its election. Like Panchayat election which is close and fierce, Nagar Nigam election is also set to be tough and intense.
There are 35 administrative wards in Medininagar Municipal Corporation here.
Chandravanshi Samaj is the first to brainstorm for this coming election here. The Chandravanshi Samaj held a meeting in this regard in the circuit house on Wednesday. Chandravanshis are an electoral force here in Palamu.
The meeting was graced by Sudhir Kumar alias Bunty who was the observer to this meeting and had come from Chhatisgarh for this meeting.
Sources in the Chandravanshi Samaj told this newspaper that this community will put up Shailendra Kumar Shailu for the post of Mayor of the Medininagar Municipal Corporation.
Shailendra Kumar Shailu who is most popularly known by his suffix Shailu had days ahead of the assembly polling here in Palamu joined the BJP in presence of the Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at a location under the Chainpur block.
The BJP leadership then gave Shailu time and opportunity to address the gathering there that had come to hear Assam chief minister when by that time Shailu was yet to be formally announced to have joined the BJP.
Shailu gave a very balanced speech. He spoke about welfare and development.
This newspaper spoke to Shailu to know what his agenda will be for the Mayor election.
"My utmost priority is drinking water. Medininagar Municipal Corporation areas suffer from acute drinking water crisis. It must be solved by all means." added Shailu.
During summer here the streets of Medininagar Municipal Corporation sees water tankers making trips from here to there, from ward to ward.
Shailu suggested that rain water must be contained. It is like "shahar ka pani shahar mey, gaon ka pani gaon mey."
About his second most top priority he talked about the setting up of libraries.
"Let there be library for the convenience of the students and elderly people. I will work hard for it."
"I used to visit the Urdu Library at Chhoumuhan. Here I used to find old newspapers well arranged and in order. There is the central library at Sahitya Samaj Chowk.I want library to grow." said Shailu.
