Chief Minister holds meet to enhance gross enrollment ratio in educational institutions

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has said that it is necessary to start skill-based courses at high school and higher secondary level to retain students in schools and maintain a high level of gross enrollment ratio. According to the provisions of the National Education Policy, students of this level should be linked to readymade garments, horticulture, agriculture-based skills and vocational courses as per the need of the area.

Yadav was addressing the review meeting of the proposed action plan to boost the gross enrollment ratio in educational institutions. Chief Secretary Smt. Veera Rana, Principal Secretary School Education Smt. Rashmi Arun Shami, Principal Secretary Higher Education Sanjay Goyal, Principal Secretary Tribal Affairs Department Dr. E. Ramesh Kumar and other officers were present in the meeting held in the Mantralaya.

Chief Minister Yadav emphasized the need to enhance the gross enrollment ratio by collaborating with district-level officials and teachers to devise an action plan. He suggested engaging hostel wardens in tribal districts in teaching roles and developing an administrative cadre to manage hostel operations.

Yadav also mentioned considering arrangements for students from all categories to reside together in hostels in the future. He instructed that scholarship disbursements to students must be prompt without any delays under any circumstances.

Yadav said that to increase students' interest in studies, it is necessary to conduct activities like dialogue programmes, science fairs, science trips and come-learn-know at the school level. Conduct these activities in collaboration with School Education Department, MPCOST, Culture, Archaeology, Tourism departments.

Yadav said that subjects like agriculture and forensic science should be started at the college level in more and more institutions of the state. Regional farmers and their farms should also be linked to the study of agricultural science at the graduate level for practical experience.
