Gangs run from prison not Government, says BJP

Sunday, 24 March 2024 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

The BJP on Saturday morning strongly reacted to the Aam Aadmi Party’s remark that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will run the Government from jail, saying only “gangs” run from inside the prison.  Meanwhile, BJP workers led by party’s Delhi chief Virendra Sachdeva on Saturday staged a dharna near Rajghat pledging to fight against the corruption of the Kejriwal Government.

Before sitting on the protest, BJP members went as a delegation to pay floral tributes at Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial, singing the bhajan “Raghupati Raghav” and pledging to continue the struggle against corruption. Sachdeva congratulated Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party workers for becoming a dynastic party. Now this party has joined the list as Congress 2, Laloo Yadav 2, Pawar 2, Akhilesh 2. Just as Sunita Kejriwal is managing the party’s affairs through daily briefings, now the Aam Aadmi Party has also joined the list of dynastic parties, he claimed.

Sachdeva said, “On July 22, the Lieutenant Governor had recommended a CBI inquiry, after which Manish Sisodia went to jail in February and Sanjay Singh in October, and then continuously since November 2, the ED has been sending notices, but they were ignoring it, and when they went to court, even the court completely rejected it and mentioned joining the investigation. Arvind Kejriwal, who says there was no scam, then why was 100 crores taken?”

Earlier, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari claimed that the people of Delhi are distributing sweets to celebrate Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest. He said the AAP chief had looted the national capital. “He has given his life to bring Delhi to the brink of misery. The people of Delhi are very angry with him and that’s why sweets were distributed after his arrest. His government has done no work in Delhi and they have only looted and filled their pockets. Kejriwal has looted Delhi,” he said. Those who are repeatedly saying they will run the government from jail, then remember, we have seen gangs being run from jail and not the government,” Manoj Tiwari said.

Delhi BJP leaders, including state unit president Virendra Sachdeva, on Saturday paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at the Rajghat here and pledged to fight against corruption. This comes after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in an excise policy-linked money laundering case on Thursday night. The BJP leaders sang “raghutapi raghav raja ram” at the Rajghat.  “We, the BJP workers, take this oath that we will always raise our voice first against corruption and will always work against corruption,” they pledged.
