Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan today inaugurated the newly constructed building of 'Centre for Tribal Studies' at Vinoba Bhave University. Addressing the inauguration ceremony, he said that the culture of Jharkhand is historical and glorious. This center will play an important role in promoting this glorious culture.
The Governor said that in Jharkhand, many great men including Lord Birsa Munda, Siddho-Kanhu, Chand-Bhairav, Phulo-Jhanho, Jatra Oraon sacrificed everything for the country and society. On the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda, November 15, 2023, the Prime Minister visited his birthplace Ulihatu and paid homage. He also launched many schemes for the uplift of the tribal community. It was decided by them to celebrate the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda ji as Tribal Pride Day.
The Governor said that knowledge plays an important role in socio-economic progress. In such a situation, it is important that more and more youth pursue higher education. He is happy that the youth of the tribal community are also becoming increasingly aware. He called upon the youth to set their goals and move towards the goal with hard work and dedication, success will definitely be achieved. He said that the shining example of this is the President of India, Draupadi Murmu. She studied under adverse circumstances and became the first woman in the village to go to college.
The Governor said that the art, culture, folklore, traditions and customs of the tribes have been rich. There is no dowry system in the tribal society, which is quite pleasant. They worship nature, which is reflected in their festivals. Sarhul and Karma festivals show the unbreakable relationship between nature and humans. He said that the 'Centre for Tribal Studies' will highlight the various creations of our tribal brothers and sisters, preserve their artefacts, open a new dimension of research and act as a guide.
The Governor also visited Sheikh Bihari Medical College, Hazaribagh before the inauguration of the 'Tribal Study Centre'.
