BIJOY DASH ELECTED AS HIGH COURT BAR PRESIDENT
Cuttack: Senior advocate Bijoy Kumar Dash has been elected as the president of the prestigious Orissa High Court Bar Association in the elections conducted on March 30. Dash started his career in the High Court in the 1980s and has worked in various positions for government and non-government clients. He is one of the distinguished legal luminaries of the State. He has won the trust of the fraternity of the High Court Bar due to his pro-Bar and pro-people attitude. The High Court Bar Association is expected to reach new heights under his leadership. He has thanked all the members of the Bar Association for reposing faith on his leadership.
PRISONER FLEES FROM SUNDARGARH DHH
Sundargarh: A prisoner fled from the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where he was undergoing treatment on Sunday night. According to reports, Arjun Munda, the prisoner, was serving his jail term at Sundargarh District Jail in a murder case. He was admitted to the Bhawani Shankar Hospital in Sundargarh following surgery. He gave a slip to the jail officials at the hospital and managed to flee.
The district jail authorities lodged a complaint at the Town police station in this connection following which the investigation started by the police to nab the accused.

Bhubaneswar: Utkal Dibasa was observed at the DAV Public School, Kalinganagar on Monday. School Chairman Balaram Mohapatra, supervisors, teachers and staffs paid tributes to the illustrious sons of Odisha. Mohapatra said the glory of the Odia race would remain intact if every Odia takes care of speaking and reading in their mother tongue in their daily life. Teacher Preetishree Priyadharini shed light on the history of sacrifices of the brave sons of Utkal Mata. Teachers Phillip Kumar Shetpathi and Sapan Kumar Giri recited poems dedicated to ‘Mati Maa’.
MAYURBHANJ: ONION-LADEN TRUCK CATCHES FIRE
Baripada: Tonnes of onion worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes as a truck caught fire on NH-49 at Dwarasuni Ghati in the Bangiriposhi area in Mayurbhanj district on Monday. While the exact reason behind the spread of the blaze was yet to be ascertained, the driver and the helper of the truck were untraced. The truck was on its way from Bisoyi to Kolkata when it skidded off the road and caught fire. Police and Fire Service personnel rushed to the spot and began an operation to douse the flames.
SMILES HOLDS ANNIVERSARY ON UTKAL DIVAS
Sunabeda: On the Utkal Divas in Tihirput village here, SMILES, a social organisation, distributed dry foods and clothes to poor women and old people. Social worker Sanjeev Mohanty was conducted the programme that coincided with the anniversary of the organisation.
