Jharkhand overall champion in National Word Power Championship

Jharkhand has achieved a big victory in the National Word Power Championship held in Mumbai. In this national competition held between eight states on April 11 and 12, four children from the state performed brilliantly in classes 2, 3, 4 and 5 and won the title of overall champion for Jharkhand. These children of Jharkhand have created their own identity among the participants from other states with their charismatic skills in English.

Jharkhand has got first position in Class 2 category, fifth position in Class 3 category, fourth position in Class 4 category and second position in Class 5 category. In this competition, Jharkhand led with 0.23% marks, defeating Tamil Nadu and host Maharashtra. Tamil Nadu has got the second position, and Maharashtra has got the third position.

Samarjeet Mahato, Asha Kumari, Anup Mahato, Sumit Mahato, Ankit Mahato, Prabhat Ranjan, Neelam Kumari, Asad Akhtar Ansari represented Jharkhand in the Word Power National Championship held in Mumbai. Secretary of State School Education and Literacy Department Umashankar Singh, State Education Project Director Aditya Ranjan, State Program Officer Abhinav Kumar and other education officials have congratulated the entire team on the spectacular victory of the children of Jharkhand on the national stage.

The Word Power Championship competition is organized on the lines of America's popular 'Spelling Bee Competition'. It is the only English competition in India conducted exclusively for students of regional linguistic schools. The objective of which is to provide an exclusive platform to regional language school students to showcase their newly acquired English talent after participating in a highly rigorous 'English Literacy Programme'. This develops a sense of enthusiasm and purpose for the English language among teachers and students alike. This competition is organized every year by an organization called Leap for Word and Mariko.

Participants from eight states participated in the National Word Power Championship competition held in Mumbai. In these, participants from Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh displayed their skills. In the grand final competition, Jharkhand's Samarjeet Mahato represented Class 2, Asha Kumari represented Class 3, Prabhat Ranjan represented Class 4 and Devashish represented Jharkhand in Class 5.

Children, parents and teachers participating in the National Word Power Championship were sent by plane to Mumbai. Marico organization had made arrangements for the accommodation and food etc. of the Jharkhand team in Mumbai. The winning children will come to Ranchi by flight on 13th April (Saturday) at 4.15 pm.
