Marandi writes to CS for CBI probe in alleged JPSC paper leak

Tuesday, 19 March 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

The opposition BJP on Monday demanded a probe into the allegation of question paper leak during the preliminary examination of the state's Public Service Commission.

The BJP has demanded a CBI probe and cancellation of the examination held on Sunday. BJP State president and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi in connection has written a letter to Chief Secretary (Jharkhand) for a CBI probe in alleged paper leak of Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) PT examination and JSSC examination held in January this year. Out of two examinations, the government has denied paper leak in JPSC examination while in JSSC examination the state government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe in paper leak.

The BJP leader in his letter has mentioned that students have informed him that the paper booklet number and OMR answer sheet number were found to be unequal and this has been published in all the major newspapers and visual media.

Marandi further stated that recently, a similar case had come to light, where a case of question paper leak had come to light in the General Graduate Qualified Combined Competitive Examination-2023 conducted by JSSC in 735 centers across the state for 2025 posts, after which JSSC dated 28.01.2024. All the shift examinations held on 10th and the examination to be held on 4th February were canceled due to unavoidable reasons, in this context too, I wrote a letter (letter no. 139/BLM/24) to the Chief Secretary, State Government on 01st February 2024, informing the CBI. Due to repeated cancellation of examinations and incidents of paper leaks, questions are raised on the impartiality of JSSC and JPSC, due to which all the participants have to suffer the consequences.

In the last 4 years, the dreams of poor and tribal children of Jharkhand have been made a mockery. The people sitting at the top of power are engaged in serving their own interests and not for the public. State officials also have the same attitude. In the last 4 years, no such examination has been conducted in which there were no cheating, irregularities or irregularities. The officers and leaders sitting at the top leadership, who fill their pockets with the money of state money and corruption, have forgotten that their work is public service.

Marandi, targeting the state government, alleged that there is no such ineffective, poor and disorganized State Service Commission anywhere in the country. He alleged that an institution, which has been given the responsibility of conducting examinations for the last 4 years, is continuously failing in it. If it is happening then why are the officers taking salaries in the name of public service? All officers involved in such criminal acts should be dismissed with immediate effect.

Marandi urged the CS to take cognizance of the above incident and recommend to CBI for investigation against the officers involved in the General Graduate Qualified Combined Competitive Examination-2023, JPSC Preliminary Examination conducted by JSSC and such misdeeds.

Earlier, on Sunday a section of job aspirants created a ruckus in some examination centres in Chatra, Jamtara and Dhanbad districts on Sunday, alleging that the question paper of the Jharkhand PSC preliminary examination was leaked.

A purported video also went viral in which students were seen writing papers outside the examination hall in Jamtara district, however, the authenticity of the video is still to be proved.
