Samajwadi Party chief national general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav has claimed that his party will win at least 40 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh.
Earlier SP president Akhilesh Yadav had claimed that his party would win all 80 Lok Sabha seats in UP.
“There is a strong anti-incumbency against both the Yogi Adityanath government and the Central government in Uttar Pradesh. The situation of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) will be very good in UP and we will win at least 40 seats,” Ram Gopal Yadav said in Etawah.
The Bharatiya Janata Party won 62 seats and its ally Apna Dal (Sonelal) two seats in UP in the 2019 parliamentary polls. The Samajwadi Party had contested the 2019 Lok Sabha polls in alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party. While the SP won five seats, the BSP won 10. This time, the SP has joined the opposition INDIA bloc to fight the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance.
On the electoral bonds issue, the SP Rajya Sabha member said, “People say that they have ended corruption. But bigger corruption than this has never happened in any part of the world. They make the Enforcement Directorate conduct raids and stop the action once a donation is made. Had it been any other country, the government that has given contracts in lieu of donations would have been removed.”
