Shopkeeper killed for Rs 40 in Bhadrak

A grocery shop owner, Bijay Panda was killed allegedly for a paltry Rs 40 at Patharadi Chhak under the Town police station in Bhadrak on Wednesday.

Reports said a customer purchased goods worth Rs 180. Bijay entered into an argument with the customer as the latter only paid Rs 140 against the total bill through his digital wallet. When Bijay demanded the balance of Rs 40, the customer allegedly thrashed him.

As per reports, the customer allegedly pushed Bijay, whose head hit the ground, leaving him seriously injured. Bijay was immediately rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.

Senior police officials said that the body Has been sent for postmortem and appropriate legal action would be taken after ascertaining the cause of death. Meanwhile, the accused customer was said to be absconding.
