There are a total 9 tehsils in Indore district, out of which five are urban tehsils and four are rural tehsils. In five urban tehsils, the SDMs while doing the duty of law and order in their tehsil area, have to call the police of another police station area, which comes under another SDM area. The reason why they do not fall in the area is that the area which geographically comes under their SDM administrative system but the police stations of their geographical SDM administrative area are not under their control but the police stations of other SDM areas come under their administrative authority and whenever they go to that police station area which is not in their geographical area but it
is in their official area , the people of that police station area do not even recognize them as SDM. According to the information received from the sources, this problem of uneven distribution of police stations to different SDMs has been there since years. Administrative sources and even citizens say that the SDM will be able to make better administrative arrangements and law and duty can be maintained in a better way, if the SDM get the supervision and control of the police stations which lie in their geographical area.
