Western outfits banned in VSSUT fest

Western outfits have been banned for students during a cultural festival at the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla.

 

As per an order of VSSUT Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Banshidar Majhi, all the students of VSSUT, Burla, are instructed to wear Indian traditional dresses during the ‘Techno-Cultural Festival-2024’.

 

Western/ vulgar/ short dresses are strictly forbidden in the university campus during the festival, the order stated.

 

Those not found in Indian outfits during the event would be sent back from the main gate and action would be taken by the university authorities against the erring students for violating the order.

 

Vice-Chancellor Prof Majhi said, "We want the university to represent Indian tradition and culture. This initiative aims to promote our cultural heritage and discourage Western influences."

 

He further added, "The aim is to make the festival more Indian and formal, not Western and informal," he stated.
