Honda showcases Concept 0 Alpha Electric SUV in Tokyo

Japanese carmaker Honda today showcased their latest electric vehicle at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo. The Concept 0 Alpha is the third vehicle in Honda’s Concept 0 lineup after the Saloon and SUV.  This vehicle is will form the basis of Honda’s first electric vehicle in India and will be launched in early-2027. It will be manufactured at Honda Cars India’s Tapukara facility in Rajasthan for India and global markets as mentioned by Toshihiro Mibe, Chief Executive Officer, Honda Motor Company.

While Honda executives did not specify either the battery and motor specifications, it is believed that it will be at par with competitors and offer a range 450-500 kilometers. Mibe also said that Honda considers India one of their three key markets alongside Japan and the United States. While no timelines were given for the launch of the Concept 0 Saloon and SUV but the latter might be available in global markets by 2026.

Along with the Concept 0 Alpha, Honda also showcased the prototype of their new electric ‘Kei’ small car for Japan, the Super-One. The new Honda Prelude sportscar was also at the stand. This was alongside two new concept electric two-wheelers, the EV Urban and EV Outlier both featuring hub motors. Honda also wanted to highlight that they are a mobility company and showcased a model of their reusable rocket at their booth as well.

This and the Honda Jet mockup at the booth were critical parts of Honda’s aim towards carbon neutrality.

Several other carmakers also launched and showcased multiple new vehicles and technologies at the Japan Mobility Show, which will be showcased in The Pioneer over the coming days.
