In a major push towards the Assam Government’s “Housing for All” mission, the Darrang district administration on Tuesday conducted the ceremonial distribution of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin (PMAY-G) sanction letters to 11,753 beneficiaries. The district-level distribution was held concurrently with the Central Programme held at Boko in Kamrup district, which was attended by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to providing secure and permanent homes to all eligible rural families, with the State-level programme being live-streamed across the three Legislative Assembly Constituencies of Darrang.The distribution drive was executed simultaneously in Mangaldai, Sipajhar and Dalgaon to ensure broad outreach.
At the Mangaldai Boys’ HS Field, 1,487 beneficiaries received their letters in the presence of Mangaldai MLA Basanta Das and Gurujyoti Das, Chairman of the Assam Fisheries Development Corporation (AFDC) and former MLA. In Sipajhar, 2,592 beneficiaries were handed their sanction letters at the Sipajhar CDC Field by MLA Paramananda Rajbongshi. The largest contingent of 7,674 beneficiaries received their letters at the Dalgaon Town Field. The distribution here was overseen by MLA Mazibur Rahman and Krishna Saha, Chairperson of the Kharupetia Municipal Board.
The coordinated execution across all venues was ensured by District Commissioner Parag Kumar Kakaty, CEO Zilla Parishad Karabi Saikia Karan, Darrang Zilla Parishad President Sewali Goswami Kalita, Darrang Municipal Board Chairperson Nirmali Devi Sharma and other dignitaries. The initiative marks a significant step in the district’s implementation of the flagship housing scheme.
