Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday announced the renaming of three Metro stations. The Chief Minister said that the names of three Metro stations have been changed to clearly reflect local identity and for the convenience of passengers. Pitampura Metro Station will now be known by the name Madhuban Chowk.
The under-construction Prashant Vihar Metro Station has been given the name North Pitampura/Prashant Vihar. Haidarpur Badli Mor has now been named Haidarpur Village.
The Delhi CM in a tweet said, “The arrival today of the sacred Raj Kalash Yatra, taken out in honor of the brave martyrs of the Rezang La War, at Haiderpur is in itself an extremely proud moment. This sacred journey is a powerful message that connects the entire nation with the spirit of ‘Nation First’. This land of Haiderpur village considers itself blessed that the sacred memory of the brave martyrs has reached here. Our government is fully committed to the comprehensive development of this area. For the convenience of passengers and to clearly define the local identity, the proposed North Pitampura station in QU Block will now be named “North Pitampura–Prashant Vihar Metro Station.” The proposed Pitampura North Metro Station will be named “Haiderpur Village Metro Station”. The current Pitampura Metro Station will be named “Madhuban Chowk Metro Station.”
In March 2019, two stations on the 9.4-km-long Dilshad Garden-New Bus Adda section, an extension of the Delhi Metro’s Red Line, were renamed by the DMRC in honour of the country’s fallen heroes, a DMRC official said on Friday.
The Rajendra Nagar Metro Station was rechristened as Major Mohit Sharma Rajendra Nagar Station and the end station New Bus Adda, was renamed to Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda). In September 2016, the DMRC had changed the name of Race Course Road to ‘Lok Kalyan Marg’.
