Convoy of 22 SUVs blocks Gurugram road for reels shoot

Wednesday, 06 August 2025 | Parvesh Sharma | Gurugram

A convoy of nearly two dozen vehicles, including high-end SUVs and a luxury convertible, blocked a key intersection in Gurugram’s Sector 108 on Sunday evening, bringing traffic to a halt for several minutes as a group allegedly filmed content for social media.

The incident occurred near prominent residential societies — Shobha City and Experion Heartsong — on the road connecting Sector 108 to the Dwarka Expressway.

On this matter three accused Himanshu, Sagar and Kaushal have been arrested. Two Thar and Fortuner has been seized, police said. Eyewitnesses and residents said the stunt, which was not part of any official film shoot, severely disrupted traffic for over seven minutes.

The fleet featured luxury and popular off-road vehicles such as Aston Martins, Mahindra Thars, Toyota Fortuners, Scorpios and hatchbacks. Leading the convoy was a white Mercedes-Benz SLC convertible, priced around `80 lakh (ex-showroom).

In a video surfaced on social media, two men can be seen standing on the convertible’s seats with the roof down, while others recorded the spectacle from nearby vehicles.

The footage also showed individuals leaning out of sunroofs and standing on footrests, cheering and filming, while the vehicles occupied the entire stretch of the road. Residents alleged that many vehicles were equipped with illegal sirens, which were repeatedly blared during the activity. One video, posted on X (formerly Twitter), drew sharp criticism from netizens.

“Aston Martin, sirens and lawlessness on full display in Gurugram, 22 cars hooligans blocking a key road near Sector 108 for reel-making, not a film shoot — just another day of arrogance on wheels. Police have booked the culprits and will seize all vehicles, including the ?4 crore Aston Martin,” the caption read. It concluded with a pointed remark: “If your content disrupts public life, it’s not a reel, it’s a crime.”

Gurugram Police responded to the online outcry, stating that the matter has been “forwarded to the concerned officer for necessary action, police said.

This incident is the latest in a series of similar events in the city. Just last month, a group of men was filmed performing dangerous stunts on modified tractors in the upscale CyberHub area.

That group was seen smashing traffic bollards and executing reckless moves set to Haryanvi and Punjabi music, allegedly for social media fame.

Residents have raised serious concerns about growing lawlessness and misuse of public roads for attention-seeking stunts, urging authorities to take stricter action to curb such incidents.
