The Jharkhand government is soon going to give a big gift to wildlife lovers. A plan has been made to start Jungle Safari in 4 major wildlife sanctuaries of the State. Tourists will now be able to enjoy safari in Palamu Tiger Reserve, Dalma, Hazaribagh and Parasnath Wildlife Sanctuaries. This proposal has been prepared on the instructions of Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
The Tourism and Forest Departments will jointly operate these safaris. Each safari will cost around Rs 200 crore, and the total expenditure is estimated at Rs 800 crore. This amount will be included in the budget for the financial year 2025-26.
The Palamu Tiger Reserve is State’s only tiger reserve, which is famous for tigers, cheetal, sambar, elephants and other wildlife, while Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary is a habitat of elephants. The Hazaribagh Sanctuary is the habitat of Sambhar, Cheetal, Nilgai, Bear and Hyena, while the Parasnath Sanctuary is home to leopard, wild cat, porcupine and other animals.
As per the plan tourists will be able to enjoy open safari in a car or bus. Also, arrangements for food and rest in bamboo huts will be made for the tourists.
Chief Minister had given instructions to make a plan for the development of eco-tourism in the State. Following the instructions, the Tourism Minister inspected the jungle safari in Rajgir, Bihar and shared his experiences. Now preparations are underway to implement this scheme in Jharkhand.
On the other hand, the tourism department is planning to provide ropeway facility in two waterfalls of Jharkhand, Jonha and Hundru, which have become a centre of attraction for tourists. Tourists will be able to enjoy the ropeway as well as observe the natural beauty of the place while enjoying the beauty of the waterfall. The agency which studied the possibility of ropeway at both these places has given the green signal for it.
The agency has found both the places suitable for the construction of ropeway. On the basis of this report, the Department of Tourism, Art Culture and Sports has given permission to prepare DPR for the construction of ropeway at both the places.
The state government had entrusted the responsibility of studying the possibility of ropeway at five places, Jonha, Hundru, Dasham, Kauleswari and Ranchi Pahari Mandir to RITES Limited, an undertaking of the Ministry of Railways. In its study, this agency has found Jonha and Hundru suitable for this.
RITES has been given the responsibility of preparing the DPR for the construction of ropeways in Jonha and Hundru. The approval of the Planning Authorized Committee will be taken on the DPR prepared by it. After this, the cabinet will also approve it. The state government's Tourism Directorate had signed an agreement with RITES Limited in the year 2013 itself for the feasibility of the ropeway.
