Eye transplantation of 2,106 visually impaired persons have been performed from the year 1996 to April 2024 in Sewa Sadan Eye Hospital. Eye transplantation have been done by cornea specialists Dr. Prerna Upadhyay and Dr. Shubha Rai. After losing eyesight the person falls into the category of complete disability. Such a disabled person has to depend on others for almost all his/her day to day works and activities. Apart from Bhopal, Sewa Sadan Eye Hospital also receives eyes from places like Delhi, Bhubaneswar, Kerala, Rajasthan, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chhindwara and Sehore etc.
Managing Trustee of SSEH A.C. Sadhwani has urged people from all sections of the society to donate their eyes to the hospital on the death of their relative, So as these eyes can be useful to someone both during life and after life. He said that Sewa Sadan Eye Hospital will start operating in its huge building under construction near Sant Asaram Square, Airport Road, Near Gandhi Nagar, where world class eye care facilities will be provided very soon to the needy people.
Paramhans Sant Hirdaram Sahib Ji, during his lifetime, had inspired the doctors of Sewa Sadan Eye Hospital to serve in this pious work. Sant Siddh Bhau Ji and other volunteers have also made great efforts in creating a social environment in the field of voluntary eye donation. This is the reason, a large number of relatives of the deceased donate their eyes in Sant Hirdaram Nagar, a suburb of the capital. A direct example of this is that in the year 2023 alone, out of the total 117 eyes donated to Hospital, 24 eyes were donated in Sant Hirdaram Nagar alone.
