Jabalpur's special MP-MLA court  issued a bailable warrant in the defamation case against former state chief minister Shivraj Singh (Shivraj Singh Chouhan), BJP state president VD Sharma and MLA Bhupendra Singh.

At present, the three leaders have not got relief from the Madhya Pradesh High Court in the defamation case of Rs 10 crore filed by Congress Rajya Sabha member Vivek Tankha.

The court also rejected the application given by Shivraj Singh Chauhan, VD Sharma and Bhupendra Singh to appear on June 7. The court has now ordered the three leaders for personal appearance on May 7, 2024.

Special Judge Vishveshwari Mishra issued this order. At the same time, the court said that 'all senior leaders of BJP should ensure compliance with the orders of the court and present exemplary conduct among the common people. Non-compliance of court orders due to personal busyness will affect the mental state of the common people.

The lawyer appearing on behalf of Shivraj Singh Chauhan, VD Sharma and Bhupendra Singh presented an application in the court, in which he wrote that he is a senior leader of BJP and elections are going on at present. Therefore, due to his busy schedule, he is unable to appear in the court himself. The court expressed displeasure over the application and rejected it and reprimanded the lawyer.

Now the next hearing of the case will be on May 7, in which the three leaders will have to be present in person.

It is noteworthy that a defamation complaint of Rs 10 crore has been filed by Rajya Sabha member Tankha in MP-MLA Court Jabalpur against former CM Shivraj Singh, BJP State President VD Sharma and MLA Bhupendra Singh.

It has been alleged that he had not said anything adverse regarding OBC reservation in the Supreme Court.

He had advocated in the Supreme Court demanding delimitation and rotation in the case of Panchayat and civic elections in Madhya Pradesh.

When the court banned OBC reservation in elections, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, VD Sharma and Bhupendra Singh tried to tarnish his image by making false allegations against him.

On January 20, 2024, the court had given instructions to register a case against the three leaders considering them guilty under Section 500. A petition was filed against this order in the Madhya Pradesh High Court, in which the three leaders did not get interim relief.
