BSL schools outsourced to DAV College Trust

In a significant move aimed at ensuring the continued delivery of quality education to the wards of Bokaro Steel Limited (BSL) employees, a total of 42 schools were originally established. However, with changing demographics and the gradual decline in the number of SAIL employees and their wards, a consolidation was imperative. As a result, the number of schools has been reduced to 9, out of which 8 are affiliated with the CBSE board and one with the Jharkhand Academic Council, catering to approximately 3300 students.  Despite the reduced number of BSL category students, including those from at par categories, the commitment to providing education to the underprivileged sections of society remains unwavering. These BSL driven schools have historically charged nominal fees, ensuring access to education for all.

However, with most of the teachers either retired or nearing retirement, or the evolving landscape of education due to the implementation of the New Education Policy, there arose a pressing need for trained manpower and expertise. Consequently, BSL initiated the process of outsourcing the management of these schools to a competent and experienced party which truly signifies BSL commitment towards quality education for all. Hence after a rigorous tender process, DAV College Trust and Management Society emerged as the selected entity to oversee the day-to-day operations of the CBSE-affiliated BSL schools. This decision reflects the commitment to ensuring continuity in education while embracing modern pedagogical methods and meeting the requirements of the evolving educational landscape .

COC BSK M.K Dhan said that under the new arrangement, a Central Advisory Committee comprising members from both BSL and DAV, chaired by a senior BSL official, will oversee the functioning of the schools. Meanwhile, DAV will be responsible for the day-to-day management, bringing its wealth of experience and expertise to enhance the educational experience for students. Also despite the outsourcing, BSL remains fully committed to meeting all expenses related to the running of the schools, ensuring that the educational needs of the students are met without any compromise.

Notably the transition to DAV management, effective from April 2024, marks a new chapter for these schools, which will now be known as DAV-Ispat Vidyalaya. Truly tThis transformation promises to elevate the standard of education, empower students with modern learning techniques, and further the goal of providing quality education to all, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds in Bokaro Steel City and its neighboring areas.
