Class VI student suffers injuries during scuffle among peers, succumbs

In a shocking incident, a Class VI student of Composite College in Zamania village of Bahadurpur, Ghazipur district, succumbed to injuries he suffered during a scuffle among children for mid-day meal on Monday afternoon.

According to reports, Sandeep Yadav (12), son of Manohar Yadav, a resident of Bahadurpur village, had gone to study in the college on Monday. Around 12:30 pm, he stood in a queue with other children for the mid-day meal.

Meanwhile, the children started pushing each other and even had a scuffle in which Sandeep fell on the debris of the adjacent school building and sustained critical head injuries.

Teachers immediately took him to the primary health centre where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival. Sandeep’s father is a private school bus driver. Sandeep was the youngest among three brothers and one sister.

Principal Shashi Shekhar Upadhyay said that during the distribution of the mid-day meal, Sandeep was injured in a scuffle between his peers and he died on the way to hospital.

Upadhyay claimed that information was passed on  to police for necessary action. Station House Officer of Bahadurpur Shyamji Yadav said since the deceased student’s father Manohar had given a complaint regarding death due to an incident and did not want any action, they completed the formalities and handed over the body to the kin.

Meanwhile in Balrampur, four friends going to attend a wedding function in Jhapatpurwa village were hit by some speeding unidentified vehicle on Gonda-Utraula road and three of them died. The cops of two police stations fought over the jurisdiction of the crime scene for hours.

According to the cops of Sriduttganj police station, Manoj Kumar Verma (24) of Gumdi Bishanpur village was driving the bike while  Rajkumar Yadav (15), Amit Yadav (12) of the same village and Surjit (14) of Dhakhijot Retwagada in Dhanepur police station area (Gonda) were riding pillion. He said that on Gonda-Utraula road, some speeding unidentified vehicle hit the bike from behind. The errant driver sped off the scene.

While Manoj Verma and Rajkumar Yadav died on the spot, Amit Yadav succumbed during treatment at the Utraula CHC. Surjeet is said to be undergoing treatment.

Sources said that as the accident occurred on the border of Sriduttganj and Dhanepur police station area of the district, the incharges of three police stations fought over jurisdiction. The Sriduttganj police finally took the injured to the hospital but claimed that the incident occurred in the Dhanepur area.  While inspector in-charge of Utraula Kotwali Sanjay Dubey said the incident took place in Sriduttganj area, inspector Anil Dixit, in-charge of Sriduttganj police station, said it happened in Dhanepur area of Gonda district. Dhanepur police station in-charge Amar Singh initially said that the incident took place in Utraula but finally registered a case and sent the bodies for autopsy.
