Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai virtually inaugurated the direct flight services from the Bilasa Devi Kevat Airport in Bilaspur to Delhi and Kolkata on Tuesday. He also virtually flagged off the flights.
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao and public representatives were present at the airport.
Addressing the event, Sai said: “This expansion in air services will unleash new realms of business and tourism. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to making air travel accessible and affordable for everyone. In these lines, aviation services are being expanded across the state, this will lead to growth and opportunities.”
Sai highlighted the commencement of air services from Jagdalpur to Jabalpur, emphasising positive impacts on commerce, tourism, education, healthcare and more in the Bastar region.
He also announced that the facility for night landings would be available soon. The Aviation Department has applied for the 3CIFR licence.
