Friday, 15 March 2024 | PNS | KEONJHAR

In a shocking incident, family members of a dead girl child reportedly branded the body with hot metal in an attempt to resurrect her at Purandapur village under the Turamunga police limits in Keonjhar district.

As per reports, Tankadhar Maharana, a resident of the village, faced the tragic loss of both his daughters, Lipi and Itishree, due to complications from diarrhoea. Itishree died when she was being taken to the District Headquarters Hospital while Lipi succumbed to the illness during treatment at the hospital.

In a desperate attempt to bring the younger girl back to life, Tankadhar and his family members resorted to branding her.

Upon receiving reports of the incident, police reached the village and initiated an investigation.
