In a shocking incident reported from Bijnor, a farmer who brought sugarcane to Chandpur Sugar Mill on Wednesday midnight fell on the chain carrier and died under mysterious circumstances.

His body was recovered on Thursday morning.

The officers and employees closed the mill, locked the office and ran away. The farmers started a protest demanding action against the mill owner. Senior police officers visited the spot and assured of action if negligence came to light during investigation.

Reports said that 45-year-old Tukman of village Karanpur Gaondi under Haldaur police station came to Chandpur Sugar Mill on Wednesday night to deliver his sugarcane crop loaded on a tractor-trolley. After weighing the sugarcane at around 1 o'clock in the night, he parked the tractor-trolley near the chain carrier to unload the sugarcane.

To unload the sugarcane from the trolley, Tukman got down from the tractor and went to see the place near the chain and suddenly fell onto the chain carrier with the sugarcane.

The other farmers present there failed to take notice of the accident.

At around five on Thursday morning, when Tukman’s cousin Rahul reached the sugar mill with sugarcane, the former’s empty tractor-trolley was seen standing there. After this he enquired about Tukman and a search was launched. After checking the CCTV cameras, it was found that Tukman had fallen onto the chain carrier. Later with the help of footage, the body of Tukman was recovered.

The information was passed on to the local police after which a case was registered and the badly crushed body of the farmer was sent for post-mortem.
