LS Polls: Banks directed to facilitate timely payment for personnel engaged in election duties

The District Election Office, East Singhbhum, has embarked on a mission to ensure seamless and efficient electoral proceedings. A high-level preparatory meeting was chaired by District Election Officer Ananya Mittal to ensure meticulous planning and strategic coordination underway to facilitate a smooth voting process.

Attended by a cadre of senior officials including Kishore Kaushal, Senior Superintendent of Police, and Manish Kumar, Deputy Development Commissioner, the meeting served as a platform for comprehensive review and deliberation across various critical aspects of election preparedness.

Mittal emphasized the imperative for seamless coordination among administrative cells and the need for 100% compliance with assigned responsibilities.

Emphasizing the goal of conducting peaceful and fear-free elections, officials were tasked with formulating detailed action plans. Special attention was given to maintaining law and order during the voting process.

Detailed discussions were held regarding arrangements for voting through postal ballots. Responsibilities of Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) were delineated, including the setup of facilitation centers and timely dissemination of information to voters.

Instructions were issued to assess the requirement of polling personnel and volunteers. Special provisions were made for gender and demographic inclusivity in staffing polling booths.

Bank representatives were directed to facilitate the timely payment and reconciliation of accounts for personnel engaged in election duties.

The second randomization of EVMs and arrangements for their secure storage in strong rooms were discussed to ensure transparency and security.

Provisions were made to address medical emergencies during the electoral process, with specific directives issued to relevant authorities.

Special attention was accorded to manpower management, with provisions made for gender and demographic inclusivity in staffing polling booths. Bank representatives were directed to facilitate timely payment and reconciliation of accounts for personnel engaged in election duties.

Strategic deployment of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and arrangements for their secure storage in strong rooms were discussed to uphold transparency and security throughout the electoral process. Additionally, meticulous planning was undertaken to procure and distribute election materials and address medical emergencies effectively.

Voting through postal ballot from May 6.

Voters of the districts going for the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections will vote through postal ballot from May 6 to 10, for the districts going for the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections from May 13 to 18, for the districts going for the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections from May 14 to 18 and for the voters of the districts going for the seventh phase of Lok Sabha elections from May 14 to 18. Voting for Lok Sabha election districts will be held through postal ballot from May 26 to 29 at the Sub-Divisional Office, Dhalbhum.

In the meeting, the preparations for voting through postal ballot of assembly-wise deputed polling personnel, police force and home guard force, other essential services, district officials and personnel, press representatives were also reviewed. Voting through postal ballot will take place from 09 am to 5 pm at the designated centres.
