LS Polls: District Officials inspect polling booths and police pickets

In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024, a thorough inspection of polling booths and police pickets was conducted by District Election Officer Ananya Mittal, Senior Superintendent of Police Kishore Kaushal, and Superintendent of Police Rural  Rishabh Garg in Gudabanda and Baharagora blocks.

 

During the inspection, emphasis was placed on ensuring compliance with the Model Code of Conduct, with instructions given to officials to uphold it in both letter and spirit.

 

Key highlights of the inspection included: Reviewing facilities at polling stations such as toilets, ramps, electricity, drinking water, entry and exit gates, lighting arrangements, and mobile sockets.

 

Assessing security and law enforcement measures at police pickets, with instructions issued to personnel to fulfill their duties with caution.

 

Additionally, a review meeting was held at the block headquarters, attended by officials including BDOs, COs, SDPOs, and DSPs. Discussions centered around critical polling stations, postal ballot estimates, cluster formation, route planning, communication strategies, and handling sensitive expenditure areas.

 

To boost voter turnout, directives were given to conduct extensive voter awareness campaigns, including door-to-door outreach. Special provisions were emphasized for elderly and disabled voters, both at polling stations and for home voting arrangements.

 

District Election Officer Mittal stressed the importance of adhering to the Model Code of Conduct and ensuring a transparent electoral process free of errors. He urged all officials to actively fulfill their duties without negligence.

 

The meeting was attended by a host of officials from various departments including Director NEP, DTO, SDM Ghatsila, Deputy Election Officer, District Public Relations Officer, BDOs, COs, SDPO Ghatsila, DSPs, and Police Station Incharges.
