Manthan 2024, the largest cultural festival of Central India's colleges, kicked off in Indore on Thursday. The event featured impressive dance and musical performances by the students of the Prestige Institute of Management and Research. The first day was packed with various cultural programmes and competitions, including a singing competition called Alaap, Reelflix, a quiz show, and a sellathon, a sales pitching event. Reelflix showcased the students' creative projects, allowing them to exhibit their talent and vision.
The event began with the lighting of a traditional lamp by the chief guest, Dipesh Tank, a social activist and motivator. Renowned holistic medicine practitioner Dr. Sudhir Khetawat, Prestige Education Foundation Chairman, and Chancellor, Prestige University, Dr. Davish Jain, PIMR Senior Director, Dr. Debasis Mallik, Director Col. S. Raman Iyer, and Prestige-AIC CEO Dr. Sanjeev Patni, along with other distinguished guests, a large number of faculties, and students were also present at the event.
In his speech, Dipesh Tank stressed the importance of leaving a legacy behind, stating that it is the most beautiful thing one can do. He urged people to consider what kind of generation they want to create and what legacy they want to leave for the future. According to Tank, our legacy is what we give back to the world.
Well-known for his efforts in promoting feminism and creating a safer environment for women in Mumbai's local trains through his "War Against Railway Rowdies" campaign, Tank also highlighted the importance of security for women in Mumbai's locals and environmental sustainability in his audio-visual presentation.
Dr. Sudhir Khetawat described Manthan as a stress reliever and spoke about stress management and pain. He explained that, according to medical science, 90% of diseases are psychosomatic and can be cured through positive thoughts. Dr. Khetawat also argued that medicines are harmful and that the human body contains natural painkillers that can be used for holistic healing. He encouraged people to embrace this approach to relieve their pains and diseases.
PEF Chairman and Chancellor, Prestige University, Indore, Dr. Davish Jain, said that cultural activities like Manthan provide students with a platform to express themselves, develop their creativity, and build important life skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. He said that at the Prestige Education Foundation, `we believe that education is not just about textbooks and exams. It is about nurturing the whole person—the mind, the body, and the spirit'.
