The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has removed 2,64,798 hoardings, 2,67,867 posters, banners/wall paintings, 45,971 signages and 34,093 flags till Tuesday from across its 12 zones in view of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in force for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. According to an official data, the civic body has removed in total 6,12,729 political advertisements from across its 12 zones till date.
Abiding by the Election Commission’s order, MCD on Tuesday removed a total of 9,649 posters, banners, hoardings and small boards from across its 12 zones in view of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in force for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The highest number of political advertisements have been taken down from the Civil Line zone with a total of 1,424, followed by 1,200 from the West zone and 1,109 from South zone. According to the zone wise consolidated report, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) removed a total of 7,774 posters, 762 hoardings, 766 signage and 347 flags from across its 12 zones on Tuesday.
In terms of the total numbers of posters, banners and wall paintings removed by the civic body, Civil Line zone saw the biggest chunk of removal with a total of 1,424 followed by 1,029 from Shahadara North zone and 991 from West zone. Apart from this,749 from South zone and 589 from Najafgarh were removed.
In the different forms of political advertisement, the number of posters, banners and wall paintings were the highest with a total of 7,774 followed by 766 signage, 762 hoardings and 347 flags in the 12 zones that come under that MCD.
The MCC came into force immediately after the election results were declared on March 16 and will be in place till the results of the elections are announced. Delhi will vote on May 25 in the sixth phase of the seven-phase polls.
